ORANGE COUNTY – A local intersection will take on a new configuration this week in response to a recent traffic study.
The intersection of Sawmill Road and Wilkerson Road north of Hillsborough is scheduled to be transformed to an all-way stop starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Current signage only directs traffic on Sawmill Road to stop at the junction.
The installation of new signage is expected to be complete by 4 p.m., weather permitting. Learn more about the benefits of all-way stops on the N.C. Department of Transportation's safety and mobility webpage.
Drivers should slow down when approaching this area as a crew will be working near the travel lanes and directing traffic through the intersection.
