KING – Contract crews plan to close the northbound lanes of U.S. 52 near the Forsyth-Stokes county border overnight several times this week.
The northbound lanes must be closed in order for crews to safely demolish the Meadowbrook Drive bridge over the highway. The closures will be installed at 10 p.m. each night Monday through Thursday and removed by 5 the following mornings, weather permitting.
A detour will have drivers take RJR-Moore Drive (Exit 122) and follow Moore Drive, Old U.S. 52 and Perch Road back to U.S. 52.
Drivers should slow down when approaching King on U.S. 52 North, watch for crews working in this area and factor the detour into their commutes.
Once this work is complete, the demolition can be completed with closures of the southbound lanes in the coming weeks.
