Roads in Alamance, Guilford Counties to be Resurfaced

RALEIGH – Nearly 30 miles of roads in Alamance and Guilford counties will be getting a fresh, smooth surface thanks to a contract recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Twenty-nine miles of roadway including a section of N.C. 87 and N.C. 49 and 21 sections of secondary roads in Alamance and Guilford counties will be milled and resurfaced. The work can begin as early as this month and is set for final completion in fall 2022.

Fred Smith Company of Raleigh was awarded the contract with a low bid of $4.6 million.

The work will take place under lane closures. Drivers should be mindful of crews working close to the roadway for this project.
