RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation crews are planning an overnight closure of a pair of exit ramps tonight as a part of the Interstate 440 Improvements Project.
From midnight until 5 a.m. tomorrow, the ramp from eastbound Wade Avenue to I-440 West and the loop from I-440 West to eastbound Western Boulevard (Exit 2A) will be closed as crews remove a portable concrete barrier wall along the side of the ramps.
Eastbound Wade Avenue drivers will be detoured to Faircloth and Hillsborough streets to access I-440 West.
I-440 West drivers wanting to head east on Western Boulevard will be detoured to Melbourne Road to turn around and then use Exit 2.
Motorists need to pay attention near the work zone and anticipate needing extra time for the detours.
