MORRISVILLE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue final paving work tonight on the project to improve the Interstate 40 interchange at Aviation Parkway.
At 7 p.m., crews will close the loop from southbound Aviation Parkway to I-40 East so crews can place the final surface on the ramp. When complete, the paving operation will then move to the exit ramp from I-40 East to Aviation Parkway (Exit 285).
During these closures, message boards will direct drivers to Airport Boulevard to exit and access Aviation Parkway.
The ramps are scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Pending weather, additional ramp and lane closures will occur nightly this week as crews pave all lanes of Aviation Parkway from National Guard Drive to just south of Gateway Centre Boulevard at the entrance to Lake Crabtree Park, the ramps at the Aviation Parkway/I-40 interchange and lanes of I-40 West between the Aviation Parkway and Airport Boulevard interchanges.
