I-40 West Exits to U.S. 70 Business East, U.S. 70 West to Close This Weekend

GARNER – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are planning to close the ramp Interstate 40 West to U.S. 70 Business East (Exit 306B) and the loop from I-40 West to U.S. 70 West (Exit 306A) this weekend as part of the widening project from Southeast Raleigh to Clayton.

The closure will begin at 9 p.m. tonight and is necessary to allow crews to shift traffic onto the new bridges over the ramp from I-40 East to U.S 70 Business East and over U.S. 70 Business, which are scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Monday.

Detours will send drivers up to Jones Sausage Road (Exit 303) to turn around and access U.S. 70 West toward Garner and the White Oak Crossing shopping center and U.S. 70 Business East toward Clayton.

Drivers should allow extra time for the detour and pay extra attention while driving through the work zone.
