LEXINGTON – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews have planned nightly lane closures on Interstate 85 next week in conjunction with an airport runway lighting project in Davidson County.
Weather permitting, crews plan to close two of three lanes in both directions of I-85 at the Hargrave Road interchange (Exit 88) beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and reopen the lanes by 6 the following mornings.
The closures are needed to begin median work in preparation for construction of special lighting that will expand the capabilities of Runway 6 at the Davidson County Airport. The project is a joint effort with NCDOT's Division of Aviation.
Drivers should slow down and anticipate the lane reductions near the Hargrave Road interchange and be mindful of crews working close to the travel lanes during these time periods.
