RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are scheduled to shift Wade Avenue traffic tonight as part of the Interstate 440 Improvements project.
The eastbound lanes of Wade Avenue will shift toward the median from Edwards Mill Road to the I-440 interchange, and traffic will also shift to a temporary ramp to I-440 West. These shifts will allow for the construction of the new alignment of eastbound Wade Avenue and the ramp to I-440 West.
To accommodate the shifts, crews will close the ramp from eastbound Wade Avenue to Blue Ridge Road from 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Wednesday. A detour will lead drivers to I-440 West and Hillsborough Street to get back to Blue Ridge Road.
The work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Drivers should pay attention throughout the work zone and allow for extra time to navigate the detours.
