MORRISVILLE — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to completely close eastbound Interstate 40 and close multiple westbound lanes this weekend to allow for the bridge deck to be poured on the new Aviation Parkway bridge over the highway.
Weather permitting, the closures will be from 1-6 a.m. Sunday.
The detour for eastbound I-40 will be very short as law enforcement will direct drivers up and down the on and off ramps at the Aviation Parkway interchange (Exit 285).
Motorists need to slow down and pay extra attention as they travel through the work zone.
