Sign Work Requires Lane Closures on Business 40

WINSTON-SALEM – State transportation contractors plan to close lanes along a stretch of Business 40 overnight this week to install an overhead sign structure.

Crews plan to close the inside lane in both directions of the highway between Cloverdale Avenue and Peters Creek Parkway at 9 p.m. Thursday.

At 11 p.m., the eastbound side will close with traffic detoured to take the Cloverdale Avenue exit and follow West 1st Street and Peters Creek Parkway back to Business 40.

The closures will enable the contractor to safely install the structure over Business 40 near the Peters Creek Parkway bridge. The crane needed to lift the structure will fill both eastbound lanes during the work, which should be complete and the road reopened by 6 a.m. Friday.

Drivers in both directions of Business 40 should slow down and be mindful of crews working along this stretch and allow extra time for the overnight detour on the eastbound side.
