RALEIGH- Work is progressing on the construction of the extension of the Triangle Expressway, the Complete 540 project. Activities on the schedule to take place through the month of December include:
- Clearing of land during daytime hours in the areas where N.C. 540 will cross Benson Road, West Lake Road and Interstate 40
- Median bridge foundation construction for the new interchange with Interstate 40
- Construction entrances along U.S. 401
- Traffic may experience intermittent lane closures and minor delays during daytime, non-peak hours the week of Dec. 2
The first phase of the Complete 540 Project extends the existing Triangle Expressway between the N.C. 55 Bypass and Interstate 40. Residents and drivers can receive construction updates by following @NCDOT_Triangle on Twitter or visiting ncdot.gov/turnpike.
