CHARLOTTE - Utility crews will be performing a rolling roadblock later tonight to remove an overhead wire spanning across the interstate near the East John Street interchange (exit 52).
The rolling roadblock will get underway around midnight and is expected to last approximately 30 minutes, temporarily affecting traffic flow along I-485 in both directions.
A detour route will not be signed due to the rolling roadblock’s short duration. Drivers can take N.C. 51 between U.S. 74 and Providence Road to avoid delays.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
