Northbound Durham Freeway to Close Tonight

DURHAM — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are set to close the northbound lanes of the Durham Freeway (N.C. 147) between Exit 8 (Ellis Road) and Exit 10 (Briggs Avenue) tonight.

Beginning at 10 p.m., northbound traffic will be detoured onto Ellis Road to Cornwallis Road to Alston Avenue (N.C. 55) to return to the Durham Freeway. The lanes are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday.

This closure will allow crews to complete pavement markings on the freeway and move portable concrete barriers to accommodate the rehabilitation of the bridge over CSX railroad.

This work is associated with the East End Connector project which is estimated to be completed June 2020.
