Comments Sought for Proposed Union County Rail Crossing Closure

WAXHAW– The public is invited to provide input on a project under development to close Tory Path Road over the CSX Railroad line adjacent to Waxhaw Highway, and extend Helms Road on a new alignment to connect to Tory Path Road.

The proposed project would involve constructing a two-lane roadway between Tory Path Road and Helms Road. This would allow drivers on Tory Path Road to use the existing railroad crossing at Helms Road to access N.C. 75 and the road network in Waxhaw.

A public meeting is set from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the American Legion Post #208, 801 E. South Main Street in Waxhaw. For those who cannot attend the meeting, they may submit comments in writing, by phone or email through Oct. 10. All comments received will be reviewed and considered for the final design.

More information and a map of the proposed improvements can be found on the NCDOT Public Meeting website.
