RALEIGH — Weekend work on the Capital Boulevard bridges project will require closure of the southbound lanes from Johnson Street to the end of the project from 9 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday.
This closure will allow the contractor to remove the existing concrete in the roadway and replace it with asphalt.
Drivers will be detoured from southbound Capital Boulevard onto Johnson Street, then south onto Harrington Street to Jones Street.
A minor traffic shift, moving drivers to the newly constructed outside lanes of Capital Boulevard, will occur between Friday, Aug. 23 at 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 24 at 6 a.m. This shift will allow the contractor to begin construction of the grass median.
Both items are weather-dependent and subject to change.
Drivers should pay extra attention while driving through the work zone and allow extra time to navigate the detour route.
