NCDOT Holding Public Meeting on Proposed Extension of Great Wagon Road

LEWISVILLE – The public will have the chance to review plans and provide input on the proposed extension of a Forsyth County road during a meeting this evening.

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to extend Great Wagon Road in Lewisville, between Shallowford Road and Lewisville-Vienna Road. Plans call for roundabouts to connect the new extension to Shallowford, Lewisville-Vienna and Lewisville-Clemmons roads and proposed side streets connecting the new stretch to Shallowford Road.

The project will accommodate future traffic volumes, improve connectivity throughout the downtown area, support economic development, accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists, and improve safety.

A map of the proposed improvements and project information can be found on the NCDOT public meeting webpage.

The meeting will be held Thursday, July 25, from 4-6 p.m. at Lewisville Town Hall, 6510 Shallowford Road. There will not be a formal presentation.

NCDOT representatives will display maps and be available to answer questions and receive comments that will be considered as the project progresses. Comments may also be submitted by phone or email by Aug. 26.
