GOLDSBORO – A pair of 68-year-old bridges in Wayne County will be replaced soon.
The N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded two contracts totaling almost $1.2 million to National Bridge Buildings LLC of Kernersville, which will replace these two bridges that have reached the end of their useful lives:
- South Johnson Church Road over Town Creek, west of Goldsboro; and
- Thunder Swamp Road over Thunder Swamp, west of Mount Olive
The contractor must begin work by February, and it will take about six months to replace each bridge and reopen the road.
