STATESVILLE – Iredell County drivers will soon have a smoother ride on portions of N.C. 150, N.C. 152 and N.C. 115, thanks to an $10.5 million contract awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation.
More than 50 sections of secondary roads, including Amity Hill Road, Sharon School Road and Stamey Farm Road, also will be improved. The contract awarded to Maymead Inc. of Mountain City, Tenn., includes milling, resurfacing, and shoulder reconstruction and covers 63 miles of roadway.

Work can start as early as April 1 and should be completed by Oct. 1, 2020.
This is one of 21 major highway and bridge projects awarded this month by the NCDOT. Per state law they went to the lowest bidder among qualified contractors. They are worth $331.5 million, more than $57 million under engineer estimates.
