MILLS RIVER — A contractor for the N.C. Department of
Transportation will start a road improvement project that will benefit two
schools in Henderson County.
One lane of traffic on N.C. 191 between North Rugby Road and
Mountain Road will have intermittent lane closures starting Monday, March 12.
The targeted completion date is Nov. 15, weather permitting.
Crews from Young & McQueen Construction will extend turn lanes,
improve drainage and repave the highway that serves Rugby Middle School and West
Henderson High School.
Flaggers will control traffic at both ends of the work zone when a
closure is needed. The lane closures will be lifted so drop-offs and pick-ups
may run as normal from 7:15-8:15 a.m., and from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on school
days.
Transportation officials remind motorists to obey all posted signs,
follow flagger instructions and slow down in work zones.
