Road Construction outside Asheboro Requires Closure on N.C. 42

ASHEBORO – A project to straight out a hazardous curve on N.C. 42 will require a two-week closure in southeastern Randolph County, starting Wednesday, March 14.

The N.C. Department of Transportation needs to close N.C. 42 in both directions at Moffitt Mill Road near the Coleridge community to allow contract crews to safely tie the new construction to the existing portion. The realignment will make N.C. 42 safer for traffic.

The mile-long detour will send motorists onto Moffitt Mill and Erect roads. The highway is scheduled to reopen March 28.
