CHARLOTTE – Repairs will get underway
this morning for the bridge carrying I-85 over U.S. 321 in Gastonia. Several
bridge beams were struck on Wednesday by a tractor-trailer hauling a piece of
construction equipment.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will be working with Flame On
Inc., a company out of the state of Washington, to complete the repairs that
include using heat to straighten the bridge beams back into place.
To safely complete the repairs, crews will close the right lane on
U.S. 321 North until 10 p.m. Work will continue daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
until repairs are completed.
