UPDATED RELEASE: Due to the winter
weather, the N.C. Department of Transportation is canceling an open house that
had been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 18, in Archdale about a proposed road
project. NCDOT will announce a new meeting date as soon as it is scheduled.

ARCHDALE – The N.C. Department of
Transportation proposes widening portions of Archdale Road in Randolph and
Guilford counties to accommodate a center-turn lane.
The project, which would boost safety and ease congestion, would
add a middle turn lane to Archdale Road between Robbins Country Road and North
Main Street; a small portion of the three-mile section to be improved already
has a middle turn lane, while the rest has two lanes.
Interested residents may learn more at a public open house from 4
to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18 at the Archdale Public Library, 10433 S. Main
St., where NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and
collect comments about the proposed widening. Feb. 9 is the deadline to submit
comments.
