WALNUT COVE – N.C. Department of
Transportation contractors will soon begin work replacing the bridge over Lick
Creek on Fagg Road in Walnut
Cove, forcing a four-month closure for a portion of the roadway between U.S.
311 and N.C. 65. The original bridge no longer meets the demands of the traffic
using it.
Local traffic will still be able to access
locations on either side of the bridge up to the point of closure at the bridge
construction area.
The portion of road will be closed
from Monday, Feb. 26, until work is complete by Tuesday, June 5, weather
permitting.
Motorists will be able to use U.S. 311
and N.C. 65 South to detour
around the closure.
NCDOT reminds motorists to
watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed
limit.
