Paving Requires Weekend Closure of Holly Shelter Road in Onslow County

JACKSONVILLE — Drivers traveling on Holly Shelter Road near the intersection with N.C. 53 south of Jacksonville need to be aware that the road will be closed in both directions starting Saturday, March 17.

The closure will begin at 6 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 18. Traffic will be detoured to Harris Creek Road, Scott Jenkins Road, and Haws Run Road.

The closure is needed so a N.C. Department of Transportation contractor can repave the north and southbound lanes of Holly Shelter Road. It is part of an ongoing project to replace drain pipes that run under the road, and realign the Holly Shelter Road/N.C. 53 intersection to improve sight distance.
