Fayetteville - The N.C. Department of
Transportation is considering several potential improvements that would make
Cliffdale Road in Fayetteville safer for travelers and pedestrians.
The public is invited to a meeting to review the preliminary
proposals, ask questions and comment on the alternatives for enhancing Cliffdale
Road along the three-mile study area between Old Bunce Road and North McPherson
Church Road.
The open house will be Wednesday, April 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the
Cliffdale Recreation Center, Room No. 3, at 6404 Cliffdale Road. NCDOT will use
the comments to help develop a proposed project that can be funded and built in
the future.
“We want to show the public the various methods we use to make
roads safer and reduce crashes,” David Phipps, an NCDOT traffic safety engineer.
“The public feedback is important as we look to fine tune our recommendations
for improving the Cliffdale Road corridor.”
With some sections carrying more than 45,000 vehicles on the
average day, the corridor has a crash rate of almost 530 crashes per 100 million
vehicle miles traveled. The statewide rate for a comparable road is 430.

proposal, contact Glenda E. Snively of NCDOT Division 6 at P.O. Box 1150,
