The N. C. Department of Transportation's Vegetation Management Section is responsible for developing planting programs and maintaining roadside vegetation. Vegetation Management programs help stabilize soils, preventing erosion as well as improving safety, roadside beautification and protecting Federally threatened and endangered plant species found along the rights of way.
