Jim Walker was appointed to the N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors in 2016. Walker has been a practicing attorney since 1988 and a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission Superior Court-Certified Mediator since 2000. He dedicates his practice to serving as a full-time mediator assisting litigants in resolving their disputes through mandatory and voluntary mediations.
Walker is the Turnpike Authority's delegate to the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization. He also attends Gaston-Cleveland-Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization meetings and Transportation Committee meetings at the N.C. General Assembly as an interested citizen.
A native of Charlotte, Walker grew up in Gastonia. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a double major in business management and economics. He also graduated summa cum laude from the North Carolina Central University School of Law.
Walker was appointed to the North Carolina Central University Board of Trustees in 2017 and he was reappointed to a second term in 2021.
Walker's current term on the N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors runs from 2023 to 2027.
