​Engineers developed two design options - referred to as alternatives - as part of a feasibility study several years ago. Later, they added a third option, which is a variation of one of the earlier alternatives.
The three alternatives are:
- Alternative 1, a four-lane road divided by a raised median
- Alternative 2, a five-lane road with a center turn lane for dual left turns
- Alternative 2 & 3, (Alternative 2: Five-lane road with a center turn lane for dual left turns; Alterative 3: five-lane road with a center turn lane with lane delineators)
