Environmental Assessment
The N.C. Department of Transportation completed the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI) in December 2018. The EA/FONSI covers all three segments of the U.S. 158 (Reidsville Road) corridor, from multi-lanes north of U.S. 421/I-40 Business in Forsyth County to U.S. 220 (I-73) in Stokesdale (Guilford County). NCDOT and the consultant have continued work on Section A of the project. The design for this section has been refined and provides changes that minimize property impacts and improves traffic operation. Revised plans were presented to the public on October 10, 2019.
Design Meetings
The N.C. Department of Transportation held design meetings on Oct. 24, 2017, in Walkertown, and Oct. 26, 2017, in Stokesdale, and Oct. 10, 2019 in Winston-Salem to answer questions and receive comments from the public on improvements to U.S. 158 (Reidsville Road).
Informational Workshops
In April 2012, NCDOT held informational workshops in Stokesdale and Walkertown to discuss why the project is needed and used maps to show the areas where it could occur. They also showed the public potential study corridors for the U.S. 158 bypass of Stokesdale (Section C).
NCDOT included public feedback from the workshops in the environmental document.
