Project Overview
The N.C. Department of Transportation is conducting a feasibility study to improve traffic congestion and safety for N.C. 168 in Currituck County. The study will determine the best design and preliminary cost estimates for construction, utilities and right-of-way.
NCDOT recommends widening a 4.7-mile stretch of N.C. 168 from Guinea Road to North Point Boulevard to the Virginia state line. The improvements will also include a
reduced conflict intersection and a sidewalk on the west side of N.C. 168.
N.C. 168 is a busy corridor and these improvements are critical for Moyock, as the area continues to grow as a commuter town for residents who work in Virginia. N.C. 168 is also important to vacationers visiting the Outer Banks.

This project is listed as Project H192537 in the N.C. Department of Transportation's Project Prioritization Process and is not currently funded.
