Weekend Lane Closures Scheduled for Guilford County Highway

MCLEANSVILLE— The North Carolina Department of Transportation is advising drivers to prepare for extended lane closures on U.S. 29 South this weekend as part of ongoing construction work for the interchange improvement project.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, crews will be placing U.S. 29 South into a one-lane pattern for the weekend. This closure will remain in place until all asphalt and guardrail installation work is completed. The operation is expected to be a continuous process, with work scheduled to conclude by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, at the latest. During this operation, traffic will initially be directed into the right lane. As work progresses, traffic will be shifted into the left lane before both lanes are fully reopened.

These closures are necessary to facilitate the ongoing improvements to the US-29 interchange, which include the installation of new infrastructure designed to improve traffic flow and safety in the area.

Motorists should expect some delays and are encouraged to plan alternate routes when possible. Please remain alert to changes in traffic patterns and obey posted signs and detours.
