CLAYTON- Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will implement slow-rolling traffic impacts at the turbine-style interchange of Interstate 40, N.C. Toll 540, and U.S. 70/I-42 (Exit 309) to allow Duke Energy to install a power line.
Work will begin tonight at 11 p.m., weather permitting, and finish Friday morning by 5. The slow-rolling operation will move through the work zone in 20 minute intervals, allowing traffic congestion to clear before making another pass through the project area.
Signs will be placed on I-40 East at Exit 309, Triangle Expressway (Toll Road 540) in both directions before Exit 36, and on I-42 West at Exit 320.
Drivers are encouraged to drive slowly in the work zone and prepare for some delays.
