U.S. 1 to be Improved in Southwestern Wake County

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a contract improve over 13 miles of U.S. 1 in southwestern Wake County.​

The project calls for milling, resurfacing, and shoulder reconstruction along U.S. 1 between just south of the Triangle Expressway (N.C. Toll 540) and the Chatham County Line. This includes the ramps at the New Hill Holleman Road interchange (Exit 89).

Blythe Construction Inc. was awarded the $5.6 million contract and can begin work as early as mid-March. The work is scheduled for completion in fall 2026.​
