RALEIGH – The North Carolina Governor’s Safety Program is now accepting
grant applications for initiatives addressing traffic safety.
The selected grantees will use this money to fund projects that occur during
the 2026 federal fiscal year, Oct. 1, 2025-Sep. 30, 2026.
“This funding plays a vital role in making North Carolina roads safer for
everyone,” said GHSP Director Mark Ezzell. “These grants empower communities at
the local level to act, improve awareness and implement programs that help
prevent traffic crash injuries and fatalities.”
Past applicants include law enforcement agencies, local and state governments,
hospitals, public health agencies, educational organizations, emergency medical
services and nonprofits.
Last year, GHSP awarded more than $22 million in community-based grants
intended to reduce traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities on N.C. roads.
Those interested in applying for a grant should first register for the ‘N.C. Department of Transportation
Enterprise Business Services Portal.’ Completed portal registration forms
should be emailed to GHSPSecurity@ncdot.gov.
