A Cumberland County Corridor Will Be Widened

HOPE MILLS – A section of Camden Road west of Hope Mills will be widened into four lanes, after the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded a $20.2 million contract this week.

The two-lane road will be improved from the Fayetteville Outer Loop interchange, which partially opened in July, to Beswick Court, which is west of the Rockfish Road intersection, as illustrated by this blue line on a Google map.

The project will include constructing four lanes with a raised median and reduced conflict intersections, which reduce the risk of serious crashes. Concrete curb and gutters and drainage structures also will be built.

The Fayetteville-based contractor, Highland Paving Co., can begin work in the spring of 2025. and is expected to complete all of the improvements by the fall of 2028.
