This Week at NCDOT: Holiday Travel, I-40 Lanes, Booze It & Lose It

RALEIGH - The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.

Holiday Travel

The work along most interstates, U.S. and state highways and other key routes will be suspended now through the evening of January 2nd.

Some projects will proceed with activities that do not affect travel lanes, while other long-term lane closures will remain in place on select projects.

Before you head out, go to DriveNC.gov for the most up-to-date traffic information.

I-40 Lanes

Also, for drivers headed to or coming from Tennessee for the holiday, a reminder that Interstate 40 remains closed near the state line.

Holiday Booze It & Lose It

It's always important that if you plan to drink, you don't drive. The North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program recently started its annual holiday season Booze It & Lose It campaign. That means state and local law enforcement officers will increase patrols day and night to catch impaired drivers behind the wheel.

Always plan ahead for a safe ride home.
