JACKSONVILLE – A couple of Onslow County intersections will be transformed into all-way stops to improve safety.
Stop signs and pavement markings will be installed Dec. 9 along Haw Branch Road where it intersects with Luther Banks Road. Then, on Dec. 11, similar signage and paint will be installed on Dawson Cabin Road at the Ernest King Road/ High Hill Road intersection. Currently, drivers on Haw Branch and Dawson Cabin roads do not have to stop at these locations.
Drivers should be alert in both areas while crews work to install the new traffic patterns.
After safety reviews, which include examining traffic volumes and crash patterns, NCDOT determined an all-way stop was the most cost-effective way to improve safety at both intersections. To learn more about an all-way stop, visit this webpage.
