RALEIGH- Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation are planning to close a portion of Interstate 40 East, including (Exit 310) Triangle Expressway/ Toll N.C. 540 this week.
Beginning at 10 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24, crews will close all eastbound lanes of I-40 between U.S. 70 (Exit 309) and (Exit 310) Triangle Expressway/ Toll N.C. 540. The interstate and the Triangle Expressway/ Toll N.C. 540 exit will reopen by 5 a.m. the following mornings.
The closure will allow contract crews to safely put up a large sign.
During this time, traffic on I-40 East will be detoured to U.S. 70 East and N.C. 42, allowing drivers to reenter I-40 at the N.C. 42 interchange. Traffic on Triangle Expressway/ Toll N.C. 540 will be rerouted via Cleveland School Road and Benson Road (N.C. 50) North to Triangle Expressway/ Toll N.C. 540.
Drivers should anticipate delays, remain vigilant, and adhere to all posted signage.
