GRIFTON – The traffic pattern at a Pitt County intersection will change this week to improve safety.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will add pavement markings and stop signs along Hanrahan Road where it intersects with Marvin Taylor Road. Currently, traffic on Hanrahan Road does not have to stop.
The change will come Oct. 15. Drivers traveling in the area should be alert to crews working and once complete with the additions, to the new traffic pattern.
After a safety review, which included examination of traffic volumes and crash patterns, NCDOT determined an all-way stop was the most cost-effective way to improve safety. To learn more about an all-way stop, visit this webpage.
