Beaufort County Roundabout Requires Final Traffic Shift

WASHINGTON –Traffic will move into its final pattern next week at a Beaufort County intersection under construction.

On Sept. 6, traffic at the Douglas Crossroads intersection, U.S. 264 and N.C. 32, will move into its permanent and final roundabout position.

After the shift, remaining work at the new roundabout will include paving, construction of concrete islands and installation of signs and traffic markings. Construction is anticipated to be finished by the fall.

Drivers should be aware of the shift, slow down and be alert to construction workers and law enforcement in the area.

The department builds roundabouts to improve safety and traffic flow. To watch a video and learn more about these types of intersections, visit this webpage.
