ARAPAHOE - A section of Neuse Road in Pamlico County is scheduled to be closed for the next several months while N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews construct a new bridge.
Beginning Aug. 26, crews will close the road over Beard Creek. The current bridge, built in 1964, will be demolished and removed, then crews will install a new waterline and construct a wider and longer bridge.
The road is anticipated to reopen early next year.
While it is closed, drivers will detour onto N.C. 306, Scott Town Road and Scotts Store Road. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead as their commute will take longer than normal and use caution when traveling near the construction site.
