New Changes at NC Quick Pass Make it Easier Than Ever to Save on Tolls

RALEIGH – NC Quick Pass has made a number of changes to meet the needs of customers. A new NC Only account is now available for customers to save 35% on tolls without the need of a transponder.  In addition, NC Quick Pass has reduced the pre-paid balance from $20 to $10 for all customers that open a new NC Quick Pass account. Also, NC Quick Pass account minimum balance requirements will now be evaluated monthly instead of quarterly to stay current with customer toll usage.

NC Only Account

The NC Only account is a new account option for customers that only drive on North Carolina toll facilities, such as the Triangle Expressway, Monroe Expressway and I-77 Express Lanes.  Unlike other NC Quick Pass accounts, no transponder is necessary. Instead, customers register their vehicles' license plates, and payments are deducted from the prepaid balance every time that license plate is read on a North Carolina toll facility. Customers with NC Only accounts will save the same 35% on all North Carolina tolls like other account options.

NC Only accounts are perfect for families or small businesses with less than ten vehicles that only plan to pay tolls in North Carolina. Customers that anticipate driving in the other 18 states where NC Quick Pass is accepted or set HOV status in the I-77 Express Lanes, should instead sign up for a NC Quick Pass account that requires a transponder.

Customers can sign up for the new NC Only account at ncquickpass.com and through the NC Quick Pass app

Pre-paid Balance Changes

NC Quick Pass is also lowering the required pre-paid balance for all new accounts from $20 to $10. Customers that open a new account will only be required to pay $10 for the first two vehicles. Each additional vehicle will require an additional $10 toward the pre-paid balance. The pre-paid balance for all accounts is only used to pay tolls.

Monthly Toll Usage Evaluation

NC Quick Pass accounts require a minimum balance to ensure customers have enough funds on their account to pay tolls wherever they may travel. Each customer's minimum balance is evaluated based on how often they travel on toll facilities. Now, the minimum balance for customers will be evaluated every month instead of quarterly to better reflect the travel needs of customers.

Easier Than Ever

For customers that aren't sure which account option is best for them, a NC Quick Pass account along with a transponder provides the most options, allowing customers to save 35% on tolls in NC and pay tolls in 19 states.
