Vehicle Theft Prevention Month
July is vehicle theft prevention month and the North Carolina Department of Transportation has helpful tips to protect your vehicle.
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, a vehicle is stolen every 33 seconds.
Follow these helpful tips to protect your vehicle this month and throughout the year:
- Lock your vehicle
- Never leave your keys inside the vehicle
- Close your windows
- Park in well-lit areas
- Utilize your car alarm

Technical Training Series
The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold two more Technical Training Series later this month.
The pilot program offers various courses to small highway construction contractors interested in working on NCDOT projects.
A course on utility installation and adjustments will take place July 11 in Fayetteville and July 25 in Greensboro.

Prequalification Campaign
Additionally, the department will hold a prequalification workshop for the central region of the state to prepare firms to do business with NCDOT.
The department will host one meeting a month until November to aid interested firms in becoming prequalified to work on highway construction projects.
This month’s meeting will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 18 at the NCDOT Division 5 Traffic Services Office in Durham.
