MOCKSVILLE - Bridge Maintenance crews from the N.C. Department of Transportation will close Ijames Church Road at the bridge over Bear Creek next week.
Beginning the morning of June 24, crews will close the 56-year-old bridge to perform repairs to the wooden backwall and piles supporting the bridge.
The bridge is scheduled to reopen July 5, weather permitting.
A 5-mile detour route is as follows:
- From the intersection of Ijames Church Road and Sheffield Road; take Sheffield Road north to Ralph Ratledge Road
- Turn right onto Ralph Ratledge Road
- Turn right onto Wagner Road
Drivers should anticipate a longer commute and use caution if traveling near the work zone.
