ROCKY MOUNT –The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in Mooresville will close at 5 p.m. on Feb. 14 after the current operator announced her retirement.
The current agency, at 125 N. Main St., Suite 5, in Mooresville, has been operated by Pamela Morgan since 2015. A new agency will open under a selected contractor at a later date.
In the meantime, five nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday:
• Statesville, 121 W. Water St. from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Salisbury, 130 E. Kerr St., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Kannapolis, 1509 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Concord, 929-D Concord Pkwy. S., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Huntersville Express, 12101 Mount Holly-Huntersville Rd., from 8 am.-5 p.m.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 117 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
