GARNER – Intermittent traffic stoppages will occur overnight over the next couple weeks as part of the ongoing Interstate 40 project between Southeast Raleigh and Clayton.
The stoppages will ensure crews can safely work on removing the old East Garner Road bridge over the interstate.
Crews may stop traffic on I-40 East for about 30 minutes at a time between midnight and 5 a.m. on weeknights this week and Monday through Wednesday nights next week.
The work is scheduled to shift to the westbound side following the Fourth of July holiday.
Drivers should anticipate this activity and be prepared to stop for the work operations during the overnight hours.
