WINSTON-SALEM – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close one lane of a Forsyth County highway for urgent repairs next week.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, the right lane of U.S. 52 North will close between the Interstate 40 interchange and Vargrave Street (Exit 108B). Work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. Tuesday. The repairs are expected to severely impact traffic on U.S. 52, I-40 and I-285, so drivers should plan ahead for congestion.
The closure is necessary to repair deteriorating concrete slabs on the highway between the bridge over Waughtown Street and the bridge over Vargrave Street.
Work may be rescheduled to Dec. 13-14, if necessary.
Drivers are reminded to use extra caution while traveling in the area and encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
