MOUNT OLIVE – A section of N.C. 55 west of Mount Olive is scheduled to close Monday for a crossline pipe replacement.
The closure will begin around 8 a.m. just west of the highway's junction with Shady Grove Road. State transportation crews estimate they will need three days to complete the work and reopen the road by Wednesday afternoon.
A detour will send drivers onto Grantham School, Waller and Thunder Swamp roads. People should slow down near the work site and plan for a longer commuter using the detour.
