Rehabilitation Project Continues on I-40 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes on Interstate 40 in Forsyth County starting tonight for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • On June 14-15, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from east of Peters Creek Parkway to west of Stratford Road.
  • On June 14-15, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from the I-40/US 421 split to Peters Creek Parkway.
  • On June 16, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from east of Hanes Mall Boulevard to west of Stratford Road.
  • On June 16, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from west of Peters Creek Parkway to west of U.S. 52.​

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • On June 14-15, two lanes are scheduled to be closed on the Peters Creek bridge over I-40 in both the northbound and southbound directions.
  • On June 15, the exit ramp from I-40 East to Stratford Road is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour directing traffic to U.S. 52 and back to I-40 West to access Stratford Road.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and plan accordingly for delays.
