Improvements Continue on I-40 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – Starting tonight, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes and ramps of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • On May 24-25, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from N.C. 66 to Union Cross Road.
  • On May 25-26, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from the U.S. 311/74 interchange to Highpoint Road.
  • On May 24-26, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from Hanes Mall Boulevard to east of Peters Creek Parkway.
  • On May 26, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from the Guilford County line to west of Highway 66.
The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:
  • On May 24-26, two lanes are scheduled to be closed on the Peters Creek bridge in both the northbound and southbound directions.
  • On May 24, the ramp from Peters Creek Parkway to I-40 West is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On May 25, one lane is scheduled to be closed on the Stratford Road bridge in both the northbound and southbound directions.
  • On May 25, the ramp from 311/I-74 to I-40 East (Exit 55) is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On May 26, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Peters Creek Parkway (Exit 192) is scheduled to be to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On May 26, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Highway 66 is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On May 26, the ramp from Highway 66 to I-40 West is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and plan accordingly for delays.
